New York Spine & Wellness Center and SOS to Host Event Discussing Responsible Opioid Prescribing

Physicians and Providers Encouraged to Attend

North Syracuse, NY – New York Spine and Wellness Center (NYSWC) in conjunction with Syracuse Orthopedic Specialists (SOS) Continuing Education are pleased to announce they will be hosting Responsible Opioid Prescribing 2024, a CME program on Saturday, April 6 from 8am -12:30 pm, at the Craftsman Inn and Suites in Fayetteville. The program features speakers from the Bureau of Narcotic Enforcement and aims to provide an educational opportunity for physicians and advanced practice providers throughout New York to help them navigate the guidelines and best practices of prescribing opioids and alternative pain management options.

“We’re aware of the tragic misuse of opioids in recent years and are committed to safe practices for all our patients,” said Robert Tiso, MD, New York Spine & Wellness Center. “We advocate for all practitioners to be knowledgeable in this field and to be responsible prescribing opioids.” Learning objectives for the event include, but are not limited to, selecting appropriate alternatives to opioids and establishing pain management and prescription strategies to decrease associated risks of opioid use.

The symposium is an interdisciplinary event accredited to provide Continuing Education Credits to physicians, physicians assistants, and nurse practitioners. Among the topics of discussion are:

The History of Pain Control and Modern Consequences

“Responsible Opioid Prescribing 2024” is open only to physicians, physician assistants, and nurse practitioners. The symposium satisfies four hours of the Consolidated Appropriations Act of 2023, one-time, eight-hour training requirement for all Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA)-registered practitioners on the treatment and management of patients with opioid or other substance use disorders.
