Dr. James I. Syrett Named Chief Medical Officer at Auburn Community Hospital
Dr. Syrett replaces Dr. Michael Wilson who has served as CMO for the past two years.
For Immediate Release – Dr. James Syrett has been appointed Chief Medical Officer (CMO) at
Auburn Community Hospital effective May 1, 2023. Dr. Syrett joins the
staff of Auburn Community Hospital from Oswego Hospital where he
was an attending physician in Emergency Medicine and VP of the
Medical Staff. He chaired the Health Quality Assurance and the Process
Improvement Committee at Oswego. He is board certified in both
Emergency Medicine and EMS medicine, completing both residency
and fellowship training at the University of Rochester. He earned his
medical degree from the University of Edinburgh, Scotland. He also
holds an MBA from the University of Rochester and has previously
served as a consulting physician for NASCAR. He has also authored
several EMS and Emergency Medicine textbook chapters and is
developing a further sub-specialty interest in the emergency management of concussions. Dr.
Syrett will continue to practice in the ACH Emergency Department while managing the various
responsibilities of the Chief Medical Officer.
